The Oakland Chamber of Commerce Leadership Oakland program has graciously created a list of local internships for Oakland students. Through the Chamber's support and dedication for Oakland youth, the Leadership Oakland program participants dedicated their time and resources to create something that would help increase the opportunities for OUSD students.

Be a Leader in Your Community
Volunteer with HEROES!
We recruit and train individuals to volunteer in a variety of roles:
· Academic Support
Do you want to help younger students succeed in school? HEROES provides free training for volunteers interested in becoming literacy tutors or classroom helpers.
· Campus Support
Do you want to help the school staff create a fun and safe environment outside of the classroom? Help with recess duty, lunch duty, or even volunteer in the front office.
· Special Events
Do you enjoy being in the spotlight? Volunteer for one of HEROES’ district-wide literacy events, such as Read Aloud Day or Dictionary Day, and be a part of something special. HEROES also offers occasional volunteer opportunities such as school clean-up days and Family Reading Nights.
